Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s new protagonist, Edward Kenway

Ubisoft is looking to make a quick turnaround with the unveiling of the latest title in their popular Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

With this new title, we see the move from the American Revolution to the Land of pirates, gold, and potential scurvy.

The protagonist for this new game is named Edward Kenway, who is the father of Haytham and grandfather of Connor.

Black Flag is expected to feature full naval combat, a feature introduced in Assassin’s Creed 3 but not a central point of the game.

Ever wanted to fight Blackbeard? Well now you can. There is reported to be 50 different Caribbean locales to explore.

The game is expected to ship as early as October of this year, according to Ubisoft. And it will be seen on the next-gen PlayStation 4, as well as the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.

It has been announced for the next-gen Xbox console as well.

Fassbender to star in “Assassin’s Creed” live-action film

Michael Fassbender stars as David in Prometheus. He is now tied to a live-action Assassin’s Creed film.

According to an article on Variety, Prometheus-star Michael Fassbender will be starring and co-producing the upcoming live-action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed the videogame.

“Michael Fassbender was our first choice to play the franchise’s iconic hooded hero,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures in an interview with Variety. “Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”

Ubisoft has confirmed that the film will be in 3D, and that Fassbender’s DMC filming company will be teaming up with Ubisoft Motion Pictures to help bring the game to life on the big-screen.

Variety says the “plot revolves around a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.” So will this mean the movie will revolve around Desmond, or will be be seeing Ezio or Altair? Who knows. All three names are listed under Fassbender’s wikipedia page as possible characters he may be playing, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Fassbender has made some pretty interesting movies in the past which have helped boost his popularity profile, with such roles in ”X-Men: First Class,” “Shame,” “Haywire,”  and more recently “Prometheus.”

Final Fantasy XIII-2 gets more costume DLC – Ezio Auditore

Love the idea or hate it, but Final Fantasy is returning with another batch of costume DLC. This time, taking from Assassin’s Creed.

The DLC is expected to be revealed next week in Japan for 360 Microsoft points, and will allow for the protagonist Noel to dress like Ezio Auditore.

No announcement has been made as to whether or not the costume will arrive here. Take a look at the link here for more details. With that in mind, here’s a look at the trailer for the new DLC.
