Valve’s Steam Box set to compete with PS4 and Xbox 720

In an earlier article on GTA Gamers a few months ago, we told you of Valve’s plans to build a “Steam Box” like console that would be equipped to compete with next-gen home consoles. At the time, we had seen early screenshots and drawing plans of what the company wanted to build, but now, it appears the rumors are true.

Gabe Newell recently came forward to confirm Valve is in the process of creating a Steam Box to compete with Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox 720, according to an article in the Examiner.

The console plans to be released as early as Q1 2013, which means it could be seen between January and March.

The system will most likely run on a modified OS, which will have the primary purpose of running an optimized version of Steam and providing a highly optimized experience with the hardware given.

The early release bracket could see the Steam Box getting the jump on its competitors, but we’ll know about the Steam Box when more information surfaces.

RUMOR: Next Xbox planned for 2013 holiday season

If the rumors are true, could the next-gen Xbox console make an E3 2013 appearence?

If the rumors are true, could the next-gen Xbox console make an E3 2013 appearence?

According to Bloomberg News, plans MAY be in place to reveal the next-generation Xbox console by holiday season 2013.

This has not been confirmed and is still a floating rumor, but Bloomberg has reached out to Microsoft for a comment to confirm this.

Their sources, however, remain confidential, but said they are familiar with Microsoft’s sales plans.

The Xbox 360 made its debut back in 2005, and since then, the gaming market has continued to change drastically – and so has the Xbox 360. Borrowing characteristics from its competitors, Microsoft’s move towards making the 360 the central entertainment hub in a person’s home has been a gradual but steady shift.

Now with the recent release of the Xbox SmartGlass on Oct. 26, and the continual growth of the Kinect experience, we don’t know how Microsoft expects to expand its technology for the next generation console, but we’ll be waiting patiently to find out.

In the last week since Black Friday, GameTrailers reports over 750,000 Xbox 360 consoles have been sold.

The Amazing Spiderman video game drops tomorrow…

If you’re excited for the Amazing Spiderman movie to be released next Tuesday, I suggest you head on down to your local GameStop or EB Games and pick up the videogame, which drops tomorrow.

That’s my plan. And for the next week till the movie comes out, I’m going to be doing a recording of my run through The Amazing Spiderman videogame, and see if I can beat it in a week. Mind you I also have a part-time job on the site and I will have to come back on here at some point, but I’ll probably drop a few videos down from my progress for you all to check out if you’re interested.

As well, I shall be picking up some Microsoft points, a shit-ton hopefully, so I can join my brother in Minecraft for the first time, download some map packs in Halo Reach for my upcoming RBG Season 6 script I want to plot out, and if I have room, download some songs for Rock Band too.

Stick around on GTA Gamers. We’ve been quiet for a while and we’ve lost a few more writers in the last few weeks, but the core continues to dish out its podcast, and there may be some new surprises for you yet in terms of podcasting.
