Muse reveal two new tracks: “The 2nd Law: Unsustainable” and “Madness”

The 2nd Law’s confirmed album cover.

In the last two weeks, two new Muse songs were revealed from their upcoming sixth studio album, The 2nd Law, set to be released on September 28th and in the US on October 2nd.

The first track to be revealed is called “The 2nd Law: Unsustainable“, which is very heavily dubstep inspired. It was made available to fans on August 9th if they pre-ordered the album, and the track went to Youtube on August 10th.

The second track and second single, “Madness“, was revealed yesterday. The song takes heavy inspiration from George Michael’s “Faith” and Queen’s “I Want to Break Free” tracks, and bears a heavy resemblance to Depeche Mode.

It seems the band are going in a rather electronic path. They’re my favorite band, so I have no doubts that they’ll make it work somehow…even with the dubstep.

Track Listing for Muse’s 6th studio album, “The 2nd Law” revealed

Over on muse.mu, it was revealed that Muse’s upcoming sixth studio album, The 2nd Law, would consist of 13 songs, but within those 13 songs it looks as though there will be a “Prelude”, which will be the first Muse album to have this since 2004′s Absolution. As well, the album looks like it will end in a two-part song, divided separately by name but still containing “The 2nd Law” as a pre-title.

Here is the tracklist for the album:

Supremacy

Madness

Panic Station

Prelude

Survival

Follow Me

Animals

Explorers

Big Freeze

Save Me

Liquid State

The 2nd Law: Unsustainable

The 2nd Law: Isolated System

“Survival” was recently revealed as the first single for the album, released in celebration of the London 2012 Olympics to be arriving soon. We’ll be looking forward to hearing more from Muse as the months progress.

Muse publish trailer for upcoming sixth album, “The 2nd Law”

On their Youtube page, British rock band Muse released their sixth album trailer for “The 2nd Law”, which is expected to be released later this year.

Fans were initially taken back by the direction in which Muse is going. As the trailer suggests, the new album may incorporate some dubstep elements.

Now I have to add my own personal opinion on this matter. Muse has been my favorite band for the past six years now, and they are one of the few bands I’ve heard that can actually make a different style of music sound fantastic. Every album is exceptionally different and they do their music very well. I don’t hate any of their songs, so when I saw this trailer for their sixth album and heard about the possible dubstep inclusion, I just shrugged my shoulders and pressed play. What can you do? Let the band experiment and watch them create magic. What’s most important is that their lyrics and the songs they make and the passion they put into their writing is downright phenomenal, and I’ll be so excited when I get to see them live one day.
